History Class

Every Thursday my family and some other families get together to learn about geography (we used to be learning about history and the name kind of stuck). there are about 5 families with an average of 4 kids mostly boys. This makes for some pretty awesome football, baseball, and other games we think up. In the class we are studying all 7 continents. This week we are on North America. Almost every week we have to do some kind of homework. You would be amazed some of the things we dig up about our specific homework assignment. We are learning a lot about the geography of the world and the more I learn the more It's almost impossible to think that all of this just happened. There had to be God who spoke all of this into existence.

Books You need (For kids)

I love reading! I almost always have a book that I'm reading. Here are 5 books/series that I really liked.

Hatchet

The story of a boy, Brian, who crashes into a lake and has to survive in a small cave with only a hatchet. I like this book for the adventurous side of me. Brian goes through hell and survives for 54 days in the wilderness.

The Inheritance Series
This is a story of a boy who finds a dragon egg and becomes a dragon rider over the series of the three books (the fourth hasn't come out yet).I loved this book for a couple reasons. first, the writer, like me, is homeschooled. Second the book is so interesting you can't put it down. There is always a new and interesting character that either becomes an ally or an enemy.

Perseus Jackson and The Olympians Series
This story is a twist on Greek mythology. It's like if the Greek gods were real. So the greek gods had kids and they are called half bloods and they have to protect the unknowing world from all kinds of evil monsters.
A Series of Unfortunate Events
This series is the weirdest, funniest, and intriguing series I have ever come on. The three children who are in all the books names are Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire. Violet invents, Klaus reads, and Sunny will bite anything she finds. Their parents die in a fire and they are left with their closest relative named count Olaf. In the 13 books the Baudelaires are chased from one relatives home to another by the evil Olaf.

The Lord Of the Rings

This series is my favorite by far. A ring has been forged by the evil lord Sauron and has been lost and found by a hobbit. The books is the hobbit and his friends including, elves, dwarves, men, and hobbits trying to get to Mordor (Sauron's kingdom) to destroy the one ring.

You should really check these books out. If you know any more that I should know about email me or post a comment. Thank you .

Coop's Birthday

Cooper's birthday is on the 25th of April. He is turning 12. We have all been bustling about getting presents and preparing for this big day. Whenever one of us turns twelve mom and dad decide on a series of challenges that he has to complete before becoming a man at thirteen. These challenges will include; Building something, running in a race, climbing a mountain, and reading lots of books. There are lots more but I can't remember them. We are going to have some guys over to pray for coop and eat dessert. Pray for him as he enters this new period of his life becoming a man.

Baseball

The baseball season has started for me and Cooper this year. We have already had a few practices and Coop has gotten his jersey. Coop is in little league and I am in the Babe Ruth league. Dad is coaching coop's team this year and I get to help a lot. I really like my team though and and already building relationships with some of the guys. They all encourage each other and are also are really good baseball players. I can't wait for my first game which is on the first of March. The field I play on is HUGE. I play shortstop ( Between third base and second ) and it is really hard to throw all the way to first base. I will keep you up to date on happening in the baseball season.

D.C

Sorry I haven't been blogging much but I have kind of been busy. Anyways last week my family went to Washington D.c on a World War Two/Cherry blossom tour . We visited the national monument, the Jefferson memorial, the World War Two Memorial, the museum of American history and the Holocaust museum. We rode our bikes everywhere we went and it was nice not to have to find parking spots and be in the car all of the time, But it was SO windy. It was in the high forties but with the wind it felt like 20. The World War Two Memorial was really neat. It had all of the states that had men in the war engraved in these huge stone pillars. then we went to the national monument. You don't realize how big it is until you get right next to it. The hotel we stayed in was really new and very modern. In the parking spots nearest the entrance it had signs that read "Hybrid parking only!" Inside their were probably 20 huge HD TVs and lots of bright colors. In our room there were two of the nicest hotel beds I've ever felt and a HD of course. We even got to swim in the heated pool all by ourselves. The best part...... our room was only $60 a night! The next day we headed out to see the Holocaust museum. We didn't get to see much because you had to have a pass to go to certain parts. We did get to see a hall and movie about the propaganda that Hitler used while trying to take over the world. After that we went to see the cherry blossoms. We took probably 50 pictures of us in them.
We finally got home at three in the morning after eight hours of driving. Our trip was really interesting and I recommend it to about anyone.

The Cold North In More Ways Than One

In the north or the "Deep freeze," as my dad calls it it gets very cold. The other day me and my dad were doing the paper route in the car and dad says " hey Kory it's -15," just as I am getting out of the very warm car. That is the physical coldness, But the people here get cold in the winter to. Our family will be somewhere and dad will say good morning our afternoon to a person and the man will just walk away. In the spring however people will say hello to us when we are walking down the street. The north is a strange place.
